Nestlé will grant 20 weeks of maternity leave and "paternity" to its employees

Following the recommendations based on the Convention for the Protection of Maternity of the International Labor Organization Nestlé will grant 20 weeks of maternity leave and "paternity" to its employees all over the world.

Great news, no doubt, will far exceed the "official" of many of the countries where the brand is present, such as the United States, but still far from others.

The Swiss-based company thus joins other multinationals such as Virgin with its Maternity and Paternity Protection policy and adds this measure, which must be active by 2018, to others that it already has in operation, such as ensuring access to nursing rooms in the office of more than 50 employees, ensure the right to a six-month leave and insurance for employees and facilities to access flexible hours.

Good news, that in the case of our country mothers would see their permission increase in a month, while the parents, well, make numbers because they will not believe it, so that we are going to deceive ourselves.

Are these changes alarm indicators towards governments?

Eye, do not misunderstand me. I think the new Nestlé policy is fantastic, what's more, I'm about to send you the curriculum. But what bothers me is that it is the multinationals that are making a policy that corresponds to the governments of each country.

I am concerned that this reinforces the bad government conciliation policies and leaves them in the hands of business. And it is that not all companies can afford such concessions and others although they can have already made it very clear that they will not do so without a law ahead.

From here my most sincere congratulations to the CEO of the company Nestlé and others who have decided to take a step forward in this type of measures, I hope that many more will join them soon.

And now I leave you, I will see if I find my resume.
