From breast to bottle

If for whatever reason you have decided to stop breastfeeding your baby, you should take it easy and do it with great care. Your child is still small and having to leave something that comforts him, that he likes and needs, can be difficult.

In addition, if you make the change without hurry, your child will get used to the new food and your body will also adapt better, decreasing milk production progressively.

Delay the change if your baby is sick or convalescent, even if there are other changes in his life, it would be too many emotions and the baby needs to be calm to face weaning.

Start by replacing the late afternoon teat with the bottle. Your child is used to getting less milk from your chest at that time. In addition to looking for a different place to give it, a place that does not relate to breastfeeding. Until you accept the bottle, do not replace another take, not to insist or go faster you will get it before. It is better than taking the morning and night, be the last to replace, you could even keep them if the reason for weaning is that you are not at home.

Remember that the chest is not just food, your child also feels loved, safe and comfortable while breastfeeding, so it will not be easy to pass from breast to bottle. Do not deny it if he asks you, but try to anticipate his demand.

We must understand that many children despise the bottle because, in order to drink milk they have to suck from another way, besides the taste is different. It could be a great help if it was the dad who gave it to him, to pamper him and to have at his disposal, for example, his favorite doll.
