Blevit Digest, 148,000 units removed due to botulism risk

According to an article published in La Vanguardia, almost 148,000 units of the Blevit Digest infusion have been withdrawn from the Spanish market, an instant preparation that is made from plant extracts such as fennel or chamomile and is indicated to relieve babies with digestive problems.

The reason is the possible relationship between this preparation and two cases of infant botulism detected in Andalusia. Although the withdrawal does not indicate that this product presents problems for the health of children, it is a precautionary measure of the manufactured items belonging to lots 501372 and 501373 that appear to be related. The two sick children casually took this infusion, hence the relationship is deduced, if it is not the result of chance, it would indicate that the quality measures and controls carried out in Ordesa (manufacturing company) may not be as exhaustive as they should. In any case, events cannot be advanced and relevant analyzes and investigations will have to be expected.

Poor manipulation, a direct or indirect error can always occur, but we as consumers pay a price so that these possibilities do not exist, it is the responsibility of the infant feeding companies to put the maximum rigor in the control of the food and preparations they make . No one is safe from risks unfortunately.
