Create a nativity scene

Looking ahead to these Christmas holidays we are seeing many original ideas to ride our nativity scene or home birth. Like a delicious crib of cookies or another very funny made with eggs. Today we are going to get down to paper and we are going to create a nativity scene or origami

The model is called "Belén Figures", and its author is Javier Caboblanco. We found it on the website of the Spanish Origami Association (AEP). In total, there are six beautiful figures to create an original birth: Mary, Saint Joseph, the child Jesus, the star of Bethlehem, an angel and a sheep.

From here we can download the document in pdf., With the template for each of the figures of the nativity scene. We can follow the instructions step by step for each figure, surely those most accustomed to origami will find it very simple.

And, for those of us who are not experts, we can try the easiest figures. For example, Saint Joseph It is a figure made of different pieces, and we find the steps to follow to create legs and feet, chest and arms, head and beard and the cane as a final complement. The Virgin Mary It is made in two pieces (trunk and feet, arms and veil).

Baby Jesus which is in his crib seems more simple a priori, is made in one piece and perhaps with our help children can do it. The star of Bethlehem is also one piece but with many more steps that will result in a beautiful and elaborate figure. The Angel It goes in two pieces (legs and feet on one side and body on the other) and finally the sheep that is one piece.

The end result is an original origami nativity scene that the kids can help us paint or decorate to your liking and, of course, to place it in a visible place in the house to show it during Christmas.
