"Hermanos de leche", new book by Dr. Ibone Olza

The Dr. Ibone Olza, child and perinatal psychiatrist, presents the book on May 27 in Madrid “Brothers of milk”, illustrated by Ines Burgos.

Ibone is a special psychiatrist, an intense and sweet woman, committed to respected childbirth, the rights of babies and breastfeeding. An example as a woman and as a professional that I deeply admire.

She is the author of a book that we have already recommended in Babies and more: "Born by caesarean section", which he wrote in collaboration with the gynecologist Enrique Lebrero, in addition to numerous other publications.

“Breastfeeding support groups are spaces of solidarity, altruism and generosity where infinite stories happen. For fifteen years I belong to one of them: Milky Way. I wrote MILK BROTHERS moved by the force of these mothers, always willing to accompany and help other women for free, outside the coordinates of the prevailing capitalism and consumerism. Now that the leading hospitals are creating breast milk banks to offer the best milk in the world to premature or sick babies, I have wanted to tell this story that recreates a fortunately everyday reality. Long breastfeeding, shared, fun and celebrated, the links that are created are… milk! ”

This book is, therefore, a way to explain the beautiful experience of share the experience of breastfeeding this comadres, something that was normal until a little over a century ago and that now, with support groups and milk banks, has become present again in our very modern society.

“Hermanos de leche” by Dr. Ibone Olza It has been edited by one of the publishers most committed to conscious motherhood, breastfeeding and respected childbirth, OB STARE, and has been awarded with honorable mention of the third contest of children's stories Lactation and Parenting, organized by the Catalan Federation of Groups of Support to Breastfeeding.
