II Entreculturas Solidarity Race: for quality education for children in Haiti

Next Sunday, January 27, the II solidarity race 'Run for a cause: run for education', organized by Entreculturas, is held in Madrid.

This race wants to sensitize the Spanish population about education in Haiti three years after the 7.3-degree earthquake that killed 300,000 Haitians and left 1.5 million victims. The first edition took place in Madrid last year, and this year the cities of León, Arroyo (Valladolid) and Seville have been added.

Participants in the 5km and 10km races of Madrid will be able to enjoy the attractions of the Amusement Park along with a companion, just by showing the number

With the funds obtained in the race, he intends to provide the 38 classrooms that Entreculturas has built, with chairs and desks.

In Madrid, participants are encouraged to wear a pendrive on the day of the race, which will be delivered at the start or at the end of the race and will be donated to Pueblos Unidos, where they will be used by children attending school support classes in La Ventilla, Madrid. These students who do not have computers in their homes, will use this tool to support the computer exercises they do at school.

Haiti is the poorest country in Latin America. Before the earthquake, it had a literacy rate of 62% and 3 million children outside the education system. After the earthquake the situation worsened leaving 5,000 schools destroyed and more than 300,000 children without access to education.

The journalist Julia Navarro will kick off, and the race has the support of firms such as Mapfre, the Fernando Pompo Foundation, Vodafone, Banco Popular or Azucarera.

The appointment is next Sunday from 8 am. (collection of chips, backpacks and bibs) in the Esplanade of the Madrid team (next to the entrance of the Casa de Campo).
