These are the utilities of a tablet in the educational environment

What child does not like touchscreen devices ?, thinking specifically about tablets, they are turning out to be not only a leisure resource, but also a work tool that in some educational centers adopt to facilitate access to information and improve the management of various tasks.

There is also a tendency (not widespread, rather incipient) to replace textbooks with tablets, both in conventional schools and in other examples of innovative centers, among which we can mention the Steve Jobs schools in Holland, which Marcos has recently told us about.

From here we want to present a recent report that the consultant Nielsen has made, to make known in broad strokes the main uses that families give to these devices inside and outside the home

Nielsen studies consumers in more than 100 countries, which allows us to offer a complete vision of trends and habits worldwide, for them it is important to know what consumers want, and what they buy. I do not know the terms in which the study was conducted, and the number of people who have been asked, which may - obviously - detract from validity, but it seems that 78% of parents surveyed (in homes where there is a tablet) they let children under 11 play with this tool; and also 54% state that their children give an educational use to the device.

The main reason why there is a 20% of families that do not allow children to interact with the tablet, is the lack of educational content

And away from home, 71 percent of school-age children would be interested in accessing textbooks from the tablet. But also in cases where they are used in the classroom, the activities for which children over 13 are: search the Internet (51%), read books (42%), take notes ( 40%) and complete tasks (30%).

In the table are all the uses that the tablets are made in schools. And now we would have to contrast if the results of the report are adjusted in some way to everyday realityOf course, I personally do not know families in which these technological means are not shared with children.
