David Antón achieves a new success with the absolute runner-up of Europe with 18 years

David Anton just made history in the Chess Spanish when proclaimed runner-up of absolute Europe in the city of Everan (Armenia) conquering, at age 18, 8 points out of 11 possible. Anton won the Frenchman Etienne Bacrot and the Georgian Baadur Jobava in two magnificent games in which he always had the advantage. This result is of great importance because if you recently got the runner-up in the U18 world in the Arab Emirates, you now have the absolute runner-up in Europe.

As Miguel Illescas recently told us, David Antón is one of the great promises of chess in Spain and has a spectacular trajectory since he started playing with his dedication at age 7. David Antón, according to his teachers, has a great talent that also complements with hard work, effort and dedication with his coach David Martínez, to whom I have already invited Peques and Más to tell us the successes that the players he trains in addition to his work at the Chess school with head.

The game that gave him the runner-up and in which he faced the Frenchman Etienne Bacrot is spectacular, direct and very complete. It can be seen in El País with comments from Leontxo García. David Antón has an ELO score of 2,559 (probably varies after the championship), for example Magnus Carlsen reached 2,872 in 2013 or Miguel Illescas reached 2,640 in 1996.

On YouTube you can see Davidians, David Antón and David Martínez, training and working games on the chess board. It is very interesting how the dissemination of chess information is now accessible thanks to the Internet:

As I read in Marca, David Antón has won seven games, has made tables in two and has lost two others. He has also won 32.5 ELO points in the championship. David is awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Federation (FEDA) and is studying Mathematics at the University.

Congratulations to David for his great success and we will continue telling news about his spectacular career in which the next stop may be the World Cup.
